Residential sales recorded through the MLS® System of the Georgian Triangle Association of REALTORS® came in well above levels from a year earlier in June 2013.

Home sales numbered 171 units in June 2013, up 22 per cent from a year earlier.

“Resale housing demand continued at a healthy pace in June, although most of that big year-over-year gain was a reflection of a quiet month of June last year,” said Andres Paara, President of the Georgian Triangle Association of REALTORS®. “With activity having remained consistently strong since January, sales are, at least at this point, actually on track for a record year in 2013.”

A total of 887 homes have traded hands so far this year. This stands three per cent ahead of the sales in the same period of 2012 and marks the best first half of any year on record.

New residential listings numbered 430 units in June 2013, down seven per cent from a year earlier.

There were 1,645 active residential listings on the Association’s MLS® System at the end of June 2013, down 11 per cent from year-ago levels. Inventories have been declining steadily since peaking in late 2011.

There were 9.6 months of inventory at the end of June, down from 13.2 months at the end of June 2012. The number of months of inventory is the number of months it would take to sell current inventories at the current rate of sales activity.

The value of all residential transactions in June was $47.4 million. This was up 23 per cent from a year earlier.

Sales of all types of properties numbered 192 units in June, an increase of 16 per cent compared to the same month in 2012. The total value of all properties sold in June 2013 was $55.5 million, jumping 21 per cent from last June.
