The aroma of chocolate and croissants waft through the air as you pull open the door to the Heavenly Café now located in the Cranberry Mews in Collingwood. It’s likely that hand-rolled truffles are lovingly being prepared or soups and sandwiches are being made using local farm fresh eggs and organic greens.
The quaint and elegant ambience is warm and inviting. It is reminiscent of a European café with good food, beautiful pastries and desserts, strong coffee, and the perfect pairing of wines, scotches and liqueurs. It really is “a touch of Paris in Collingwood”.
Heli Vogrin, owner of Heavenly Café, began cooking and baking in her mother’s kitchen as a young girl where she says she learned how “cooking comes from the heart and not the pages of a cookbook”. This lead her, in her adulthood, to create beautiful and delicious “heavenly sweets”. Her first bricks and mortar establishment was located in the quaint village of Thornbury and was a gourmet chocolate shop called Heavenly Sweets. However, having a desire to create a space for people to “enjoy life’s simple pleasures” she opened up a dessert café in Collingwood in 2010. The café has since transformed even further to include soups, sandwiches, wine and cheese pairings, quiches, and more.
In January 2015, with the help of the AK Real Estate Team, Heli relocated the Heavenly Café to the Cranberry Mews in Collingwood. The new location in Heli’s words, “has been a very positive move and business, thus far, in the first weeks in operation has been great”.
Heli’s love of cooking and her creativity are evidenced in everything she does. From the textures and flavours she creates in the food she prepares to the beautiful café she has furnished, filled, and invited people to share in.
While you’re exploring Collingwood be sure to stop in at the The Cranberry Mews which is now fully leased out with a wide range of businesses. It is the perfect place to stroll along, shop, and enjoy something “heavenly sweet”!
