Nancy is the owner and founder of the Art Studio (not just) For Children, which is based in North Toronto. Nancy is a mom, a lover of the creative and artistic process, a lover of people of every age, and a believer that we can do anything to which we set our minds. Nancy ran her first summer day camp in the Collingwood area this year which sold out; and it will be back again next year! Here’s a brief Q&A with Nancy about the Art Studio.
Tell us a bit about your studio.
Art Studio (not just) for Children (www.artstudioforchildren.com) has served over 4,500 North Toronto, Muskoka, Collingwood & cottage country families through a variety of programs and initiatives. We work with adults who love to paint and create, children who crave more art and corporations who want to team build through creative projects.
Whereabouts would we find you?
Our studio is everywhere! We have a beautiful home studio in North Toronto. We have a lakeside summer sleepover camp studio on Lake Simcoe. (Just south of Orillia off hwy 11) a farm day camp in the Town of Blue Mountains/Collingwood area (10th line close to Ravenna). Additionally we serve the Muskoka and Georgian Bay areas with programs through various Golf Clubs.
What is it that is special about your Studio?
Firstly – I adore people. My connection with people of all ages is what makes my art school and life unique. I am grateful that many of my clients have become my friends and many of my friends have become my clients. I approach life and this work with a sense of humour and a love of beauty and creativity. My goal is that both the process and outcome will astound you. The result does not end up on the fridge (or in the recycling!) but rather framed and enjoyed with pride for years. Our projects are unique and awe inspiring. I have worked with entire families; all four kids and eventually mom and dad and the clients return year after year.
How was your first Blue Mountains/Collingwood camp experience?
Our first Collingwood camp sold out. We hired a fabulous local high school teenager to help out and the camp was a hit. We had a Gallery Walk on the final day and the artists proudly showed their work. We look forward to doing it again next year.
What other programs can we expect to see from your Studio?
We will continue to offer Mother Daughter retreats, Summer Sleepover Camp, Day Camps in Collingwood, Muskoka and Toronto, Weekly Classes, Artist in the School Initiaitives, our famous Original Family Portraits and more.
