Bring on The Light

December 21, 2021 - January 31, 2022

The Town of Collingwood is encouraging residents to visit parts of the town they haven’t seen before, and try one of several free, family-friendly activities.

Dubbed “Bring on the Light” the town has highlighted several activities, from outdoor skating, to self-guided trails, scavenger hunts and DIY craft kits.

The town is hoping that by participating in something new and different, residents will “build social connections as a means of bringing light into the dark.”

Bring on the Light runs from Dec. 21 to Jan. 31.

There will be social skate nights every Wednesday (weather permitting) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the town’s outdoor rink at Central Park. The skate nights will also feature a bonfire, music, and festive lights.

Several self-guided tours will be available at Central Park, Legion Park, and Heritage Park.

There will be a scavenger hunt along Georgian Meadow Trail, story walks at Heritage Park and along the Train Trail starting at the museum.

Collingwood Public Library will have a limited supply of an all-ages art kit designed by local fibre artist Natasha Koledin. Each kit contains supplies for a light-inspired woven art piece, which will be displayed at the library during Bring on the Light.

The Collingwood Museum will also have a supply of lantern craft kits starting Jan. 17. Kids can decorate their own mason jar lanterns with the kit supplies.
